Obituary for Arlene J. Mason
Mrs. Arlene J. Mason, 75, of Barry, Illinois, passed away at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017, at the Barry Community Care Center in Barry, Illinois.
She was born September 8, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, to Arthur & June Flora (Craley) Dahl. They preceded her in death.
She married Robert LeRoy Goodwin in 1960 and they had 3 daughters. He died in 1992. She later married Francis Eugene Mason in 1999, in Clayton, Illinois. He died in 2005.
She is survived by 2 daughters: Holly Humphrey, husband Marlon, of Crawfordsville, Indiana; and Barbara Bunch of Barry; 3 grandsons: Matthew M. Bunch of Golden, Illinois, and fiancee Lindsay Cornell; Dalton Humphrey of Crawfordsville, Indiana; and Marcus P. Bunch of Golden, Illinois; 1 granddaughter Emily R. Humphrey of Crawfordsville, Indiana; a great grandson Matthew N. Bunch of Golden, Illinois; and 1 sister Patricia Harlan of Palmyra, Missouri.
She is also survived by 1 nephew and 3 nieces as well as several great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by 1 daughter Suzanne R. Goodwin and 1 brother-in-law Maurice Harlan.
Arlene worked at the Barry Apple Basket for many years. She retired from Williams Shooters Supply in Quincy. She enjoyed playing guitar and participating in small country bands with her late husband Gene. Her passion was writing stories, poetry & songs, reading and playing cards with her friends.
Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 2017, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 1, 2017, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Burial will be in Kinderhook Cemetery, Kinderhook, Illinois.
Memorials are suggested to the Barry First Baptist Church.
