Obituary for Cecil Moore
Mr. Cecil Moore, 93, of Quincy, IL, formerly of Barry, passed away Friday, May 19, 2023, at Sunset Home in Quincy, IL.
He was born January 10, 1930, in Martinsburg, MO, to Clarence & Ella Arline (Brown) Moore. They preceded him in death.
He married Shirley Baker on October 11, 1953, in New Canton, IL. She survives in Quincy, IL.
In addition to his wife Shirley, he is also survived by 3 daughters, Teresa Cartmill, of Quincy, IL, Diana Smith of Quincy, IL, and Sherry Holder, of Tampa, FL, 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 1 sister Katherine Hoyt of Barry, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister Mildred Thomas.
Cecil and Shirley were married for nearly 70 years. Cecil was a U. S. Army Veteran. Following his military service he farmed in the Barry area for many years. He was an avid horse lover and member of the American Paint Association for over 50 years. He enjoyed bowling and golf. He also enjoyed his grandchildren's sports events.
Private services with burial at Kinderhook Cemetery will be held at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the Adams County Fair Association for Horse events.
Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry is in charge of arrangements.
