Obituary for Charles Louis Colgrove

Mr. Charles Louis Colgrove, 87, of Hull, IL, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2024, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, IL.


He was born July 7, 1937, in Hull, IL, to Louis & Lola (McGee) Colgrove.


He married Shirley Borrowman on March 30, 1958, at the Kinderhook Methodist Church in Kinderhook, IL.


He is survived by his wife Shirley, 2 sons, Layne Colgrove, friend Julie Smith, of Hull, IL, and Mace Robin Colgrove, of Kinderhook, IL, 1 daughter Carol Pellman, husband David, of Quincy, IL, 7 grandsons, Wade Pellman, wife Katie, of Quincy, IL, Cody Colgrove, wife Stacy, of Springdale, AR, Clark Koeller, of Chicago, IL, Kyle Colgrove, of Barry, IL, Colton Doyle, wife Emilee, of Fowler, IL, Case Doyle, of Palmyra, MO, and Casch Doyle, of Palmyra, MO, 3 granddaughters, Hailey Hinch, husband Garrick, of Barry, IL, Karli Colgrove, of Barry, IL, and Catherine Dancer, husband Max, of Quincy, IL, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 sister Frances Gray, of Hull, IL.


He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister Barbara Ficken.


Charles was a cowboy at heart. He loved horses, bull riding, and the outdoors. He had worked at Electric Wheel in Quincy for 19 years, Hull Lumber Company for 15 years and Snyder Masonry for 10 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and a U.S. Navy Veteran.


A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.


Memorials are suggested to the Hull Lions Club.


Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry is in charge of arrangements.
