Obituary for Dallas W. Alford
Mr. Dallas W. Alford, 77, of Quincy, formerly of Barry, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, February 18, 2018, at the Barry Community Care Center in Barry.
He was born July 18, 1940, in Barry, Illinois, to George W. & Barbara L. (Kinne) Alford. They preceded him in death.
He is survived by his companion of 26 years Carol Florea of Quincy, Illinois; a son Douglas Alford, wife Chris, of Pleasant Hill, Illinois; 2 daughters, Debora Deakin, husband Greg, of Cuba, Illinois; and Diane Toapanta, husband Marco, of Parkville, Missouri; his companions children, a son, Bradley Florea of Quincy, Illinois; and a daughter Angela Bevans, husband Mike, of Payson, Illinois.
Also surviving are 3 grandsons, Colin Deakin of Cuba, Illinois, and Dante & Andre Toapanta of Parkville, Missouri; 2 granddaughters, Paige Del Toro, husband Micah, of Owatonna, Minnesota and Tiffany Deakin of Cuba, Illinois; his companions grandchildren, 2 grandsons Michael Bevans, of Payson, Illinois, and Taylor Florea of Springfield, Illinois; 4 granddaughters Brittany Florea, of Streator, Illinois; Danielle Bevans, of Quincy, Illinois; Allison Bevans, of Payson, Illinois; and Arica Bevans, of Payson, Illinois; 1 great grandson Christian Marshall, of Quincy, Illinois; 1 brother Kent Alford, wife Joyce, of Quincy, Illinois, as well as several nieces & nephews.
Dallas was a 1958 graduate from Barry High School. He was formerly employed at Electric Wheel in Quincy, Illinois. He was a farmer and raised sheep for many years. Dallas was a 4-H member and leader for a number of years and a real estate agent for several years.
He served on the Illinois Lamb & Wool Board and was a member of the American Hampshire Sheep Association for over 50 years. Dallas served on the Pike County Fair Board and was Sheep Superintendent. He enjoyed judging at the county fairs. Dallas was a fixture at the Illinois State Fair and many county fairs.
Visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 26, 2018, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 26, 2018, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry.
