Obituary for Donald K. (Fat Boy) Billings
Mr. Donald K. (Fat Boy) Billings, 72, of Kinderhook, Illinois, passed away at 10:51 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2015, at his home. He was born April 22, 1943, in New Canton, Illinois, to Dale K. & Vera Lucille (Coates) Billings. They preceded him in death. He married Phyllis Grimsley on August 26, 1961, in Summerhill, Illinois. She survives in Kinderhook. In addition to his wife Phyllis, he is survived by 1 daughter, Donna Kay Billings of Kinderhook; and 2 sons Donnie K. Billings, Jr., wife Yvonne, of Hannial, Missouri; and Michael Dale Billings, wife Denise, of Stillwater, Oklahoma. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren: Krista Forbis of Barry; Abigail Billings of Stillwater, Oklahoma; A. J. Bradshaw of Springfield, Missouri; Trevor Billings of Hannibal, Missouri; Tyler Billings of Hannibal, Missouri; and Logan Billings of Stillwater, Oklahoma; 7 great grandchildren; 1 sister Linda Horton of New Canton; and 2 brothers, Dale Billings of Phoenix, Arizona and Kevin Billings of New Canton. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, John, Gene and an infant brother Vernon, and 3 sisters, LaVonne Rapert, Janice Neese and Lana Sue Pathel. Don was a hobby farmer who enjoyed the outdoors as well as sports. He was well known for his restaurant in Kinderhook which he ran for 28 years. His friends referred to him as Fat Boy and he loved the customers and time he spent there. His restaurant has been an icon of the Kinderhook area because of Don and his good humored abuse and banter with his customers. You never knew what antics Don might provide with your dining experience. He was known for running Kinderhooks only dinner theatre. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wedneday, December 16, 2015, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Burial will be in Shearer Cemetery in New Canton.
