Obituary for Donald O. Owens
Mr. Donald O. Owens, 97, of Rural Baylis, Illinois, passed away at 5:55 a.m. Thursday, February 20, 2020, at Good Samaritan Home in Quincy, Illinois.
He was born May 30, 1922, near Concord, Illinois, to Earnest & Emma (Vortman) Owens. They preceded him in death.
He married Vera Lucille Hoos on November 5, 1942, in Palmyra, Missouri. She died April 8, 1996.
He is survived by 3 sons, Thomas Owens, Donald W. Owens, wife Carol, and
James Owens, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife he is also preceded by a daughter Jeannette, 2 grandchildren, 4 brothers and 1 sister.
Donald was a farmer who loved to world travel and enjoyed hunting and telling stories.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 23, 2020, at the Kirgan
Funeral Home in Barry.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 24, 2020, at the Kirgan
Funeral Home in Barry.
Burial will be in Mound Prairie Cemetery, Beverly, Illinois.
Memorials are suggested to Mound Prairie Cemetery Association.
