Obituary for Edward "Eddie" G. Doran
Mr. Edward "Eddie" G. Doran, 56, of Barry, Illinois, passed away at 9:04 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
He was born December 5, 1959, in Pittsfield, Illinois, to Norman "Red" & Ann (Hess) Doran. They survive in Barry.
He married Patricia A. "Patty" Thomas on November 24, 1979, in Barry, Illinois. She survives in Barry.
In addition to his wife and parents he is survived by 1 son Robert E. Doran of Barry; 1 daughter Michelle A. Coffey, husband Charles, of Pittsfield; and 2 grandsons, Jonathon and Jordan Coffey of Pittsfield.
Also surviving are 1 sister Cindy Mierzwa, husband Tom, of Jacksonville, Illinois, several nieces & nephews as well as several sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Dick & Hazel Doran; maternal grandparents Harry & Fran Hess; his wife's parents James & Mabel Thomas, who considered him their son; his Uncle Robert & Aunt Pat and his faithful companion Charlie.
Eddie was a member of the Amateur Trap Shooting Association, Illini Indians, South Side Boat Club and Quincy Gun Club which he was club secretary with his wife; member of the Barry Museum Board, a life member of the North America Fishing Club and he was a ham radio operator.
He was a fantastic trap shooter. He enjoyed fishing and the history of Barry.
Eddie received several Illinois Big Fish Awards from the Department of Natural Resources.
Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2016, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery, Barry, Illinois.
Memorials are suggested to the Quincy Gun Club.
