Obituary for Frances LaVeta Oitker
Mrs. Frances LaVeta Oitker, 99, of Barry, IL, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Barry Healthcare & Senior Living in Barry.
She was born May 3, 1924, in Kinderhook, IL, to William Lee & Harriett (Bradshaw) Blacketter.
She married Lewis A. “Babe” Oitker, on April 15, 1956, in Barry, IL. He preceded her in death on June 19, 2008.
She is survived by 1 daughter Debra Lee Hyer, husband Rod, in Camp Point, IL, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and her husband Babe, she was also preceded by 1 brother Bill Blacketter and her sister-in-law Mary Jo.
She graduated from Barry High School in 1942. During W.W. II she worked at Bluff City in Hannibal, Mo, helping rebuild Army shoes. After the war she worked at Brown Shoe Company in Pittsfield, IL, for 10 years. She left to get married in 1956. They moved to Canton, MO, and then back to Barry in 1964.
Visitation will be from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry.
