Obituary for Gary W. "G.W." Main
Mr. Gary W. "G.W." Main, 72, of Barry, Illinois, passed away at 4:45 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2017, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
He was born November 22, 1945, in Pleasant Vale Township, Pike County, Illinois, to Irvin P. & Louise V. (Wilson) Main. They preceded him in death.
He married Nancy L. Darwent on March 12, 2007, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She survives in Barry.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son Tim Main, wife Michelle, of Barry, IL.; a daughter Lynette Olwig, husband Matt, of St. Louis, MO.; son Chad Darwent, wife Andrea, of Vero Beach, FL.; daughter Stephenie Ater, husband Jay, of Alexander, IL.; grandchildren, Christopher, Stephen & Elise Olwig of St. Louis, MO., Ryan Kendall and Alex Kendall, both of Barry, IL.; Zachary, Charlie Grace, & Mickey Darwent of Vero Beach, FL.; Alex Suhre of Winchester, IL.; great grandchildren, Jonas, Liam, Vanessa, Rayne, Lemi, Terrick and Skylar Grace; numerous nieces and nephews and Janet Main, mother of Tim and Lynette.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Norman and Kyle Main.
G.W. farmed all of his life in the Barry area and drove a truck for Lumley Trucking for 10 years. He was a member of the Barry Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years.
G.W. loved his dogs and his 2 granddogs. He also loved vegetable and flower gardening and welding metal art. He enjoyed his pets, especially his 3 possums and 7 cats. G.W. enjoyed socializing with his friends over a few beers.
Visitation will be from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Disposition will be private.
Memorials are suggested to the Shriner's Hospital for Children.
