Obituary for Gloria L. Wells
Mrs. Gloria L. Wells, 89, of Barry, IL, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022, at University Hospital in Columbia, MO.
She was born February 7, 1933, at her home in Brown Hollow near Rockport, IL, to Milton & Grace (Grimsley) Gwartney. They preceded her in death.
She married Lewis E. Wells, September 16, 1953, in Pittsfield, IL. He survives in Barry.
In addition to her husband Lewis she is also survived by 2 daughters, Linda Haskins of Pittsfield, IL and Laura Graupman, husband Jeff, of Monroe City, MO, 2 sons, Lewis Wells III, wife Sue, of Pleasant Hill, IL and Lonnie Wells of Barry, IL, 8 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren, 14 step great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Doris Foster, husband Kenny, of Rockport, IL and Vickie Miller of Rockport, IL and 1 brother William “Poge” Gwartney of Pittsfield, IL.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 1 daughter Lois Diann Hathaway, 1 sister Gretta Ellison and 1 brother Lonnie “Son” Gwartney.
Gloria was very family oriented. She loved camping and cookouts with her family and spending time with her grandkids. She had been a girl scout leader and a softball coach. She was very fond of traveling and road trips.
Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2022, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Burial will be in Kinderhook Cemetery, Kinderhook, IL.
