Obituary for John Edward Sigler
Mr. John Edward Sigler, 91, of Barry, IL, sadly passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2021, in the E.R. of Illini Hospital, in Pittsfield, IL.
He was born May 23, 1930, in Pleasant Vale Township, IL, to Edward & Fidella (McDonald) Sigler. They preceded him in death.
He married Norma Petri on May 23, 1981, in Barry, IL. She survives in Barry.
In addition to his wife Norma, he is also survived by 1 son Robert Sigler, wife Kim, of Barry, IL, 2 daughters, Carolyn Cassady, husband Mike, of Quincy, IL, and Kathy Fitch, husband Larry, of Rockport, IL, 1 step-daughter Tonya Hickerson, husband Mark, of Hannibal, MO, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and a loved niece and nephew.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son David Edward Sigler, a brother who died at childbirth, and 1 sister Dorothy Reynolds.
John was a life-long resident of Pike County, Illinois, and was very proud of his family and his community and he was very well thought of by the community. He was extremely honored to be a 58 year member of the Pike County Emergency Corps.
While most of his career was involved in the agriculture sector, John also enjoyed fishing, gardening and hunting. He was especially fond of deer hunting and deer camp each season and he loved hunting mushrooms. He was an avid orchardman. He also enjoyed telling a good story and delighted in the listeners enjoyment.
Visitation will be from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry.
