Obituary for Marie Garner
Mrs. Marie Garner, 92, of Litchfield, formerly of Barry, passed away at 11:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at Heritage Health in Staunton, Illinois. She was born April 2, 1923, in Rockport, Illinois, to Edward & Lulu Marie (Hardy) Blacketer. They preceded her in death. She married Milton I. Garner on September 26, 1942, in Bowling Green, Missouri. He preceded he in death on September 26, 1995. She is survived by 1 son - Milton E. (Cork) Garner, wife Mary L., of Monticello, Missouri; 4 grandchildren - Angela Hull & husband Jeff of Worden, Illinois; Crystal Lewis & husband Ken of Mt. Sterling, Illinois; Cynthia Garne of Canton, Missouri and Tara Garner of Hannibal, Missouri and 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 3 sisters - Lucy Hoskins of Hannibal, Missouri; Evelyn Garner of Hannibal, Missouri and Delores Blacketer of Quincy. She was preceded in death by a daughter Pamela Garner and 2 brothers, Eugene Blacketer and William Blacketer. Marie & her husband farmed together for many years in the Lima, Illinois and Barry area. She was fond of sewing, cooking, oil painting, gardening and traveling. There is no visitation. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2015, at the Samuel Taylor Cemetery, Rockport, Illinois. Burial will be in Samuel Taylor Cemetery, Rockport, Illinois. Memorials are suggested to the Samuel Taylor Cemetery Association. Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry in charge of arrangements.
