Obituary for Mary M. Craig
Mrs. Mary M. Craig, 94, of New Canton, passed away at 8:00 a.m. Friday, December 26, 2014, at the Barry Community Care Center in Barry, Illinois. She was born July 4, 1920, in New Canton, Illinois, a daughter of Ellis and Alma (Heidloff) Kendrick. She married George A. Craig on May 10, 1941, in Hannibal, Missouri. He preceded her in death on December 5, 1994. She is survived by her five children, Becky (Gary) Clark of New Canton, Cathy (Don) Vincent of Champaign, Ellis Kendrick (Gwen) Craig of Quincy, Allen (Barb) Craig of New Canton, and Pam (Dennis) Collard of Pleasant Hill. Mary is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren, a family of 75 with all of the spouses. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a brother, Junior. Mary graduated from Hannibal LaGrange and was loved by her students at the New Canton Grade School where she taught for many years. She also was a Sunday School teacher at her home church, New Canton United Methodist Church for most of her adult life until she was 91. She led various Bible studies in her home and at Barry Community Care. A Memorial Celebration Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2014, at the New Canton United Methodist Church. Visitation with the family will be after the service in the adjacent Friendship Hall. Memorials in her memory can be made to the New Canton United Methodist Church or the Barry Community Care Center Activity Fund.
