Obituary for Melvin George Hopper
Mr. Melvin George Hopper, 91, of Quincy, Illinois, formerly of Kinderhook, Illinois, passed away at 10:49 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 2020, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
He was born October 3, 1928, in Kinderhook, Illinois, to William & Famie (Sackett) Hopper. They preceded him in death.
He is survived by his companion Elizabeth Stanley, of Quincy, IL., 5 children, Debra (Jack) Flowers, of Nags Head, NC, Sheila (Ray) Hord, of Gainsville, VA, Randy (Lea) Hopper, of Harmony NC, Michael Hopper, of Tampa, FL, & Annemarie (Ronald) Reynolds, of Summerville, SC; 5 Grandchildren, John Carter (Flowers), Alexa, Haley & Elise Reynolds, and Ryan Hord; 2 step grandchildren, Kasey & John Flowers; 1 sister Ilah Risse, of Hull, IL, and numerous nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Maxine, Dava, Mary Ellen & Erma and 2 brothers, Bill Jr. and Max.
Melvin was a 20 year Veteran of the United States Navy and after his retirement he had a career in the Department of Defense.
There is no visitation.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2020, at Kinderhook Cemetery in Kinderhook with Military services by Barry American Legion Post #222.
Burial will be in Kinderhook Cemetery in Kinderhook.
Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry is in charge of arrangements.
