Obituary for Mrs. Berniece C. Doyle
Mrs. Berniece C. Doyle, 89, of Barry, Illinois, passed away at 8:35 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013, at the Barry Community Care Center in Barry. She was born August 31, 1924, in Bluff Hall, Illinois, to Andrew & Anna (Echternkamp) Schafer. They preceded her in death. She first married Vernon D. Ogle on June 4, 1946, in Bluff Hall. He passed away May 2, 1982. She later married Ivy O. Doyle on October 11, 1985, in Barry, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 2, 2003. She is survived by 2 daughters - Judy Moss, (husband Leroy) of Springfield, Illinois and Phyllis Wiese of Barry, Illinois. She is also survived by 2 granddaughters - Chera Berck of Springfield and Lisa Moss of Springfield; 1 great granddaughter, Andrea Flitz of Springfield, and 2 step grandsons, Nikolas & Alexander Berck of Springfield; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Chester & Andrew Schafer; 2 sisters, Thelma Baumgartner and Marjorie Arp and 1 great granddaughter, Jessica Flitz. Berniece operated Ogles Store with her late husband, Vernon. She was an active member of the First Christian Church of Barry where she served as Treasurer for several years. She was a past member of the C.W.F. choir and had taught Sunday School for several years. She was a member of the Seekers Bible study group. After retiring from the grocery store in 1988, she worked part time at the Kirgan Funeral Home. She was the recipient of the 'Friend of the Community' in 2001 from the Barry Apple Festival Committee. Berniece crocheted many lap robes and afghans for 'Colors for Christ' group. Many people were the recipients of her cookies & pies. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2013, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 9, 2013, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry. Memorials are suggested to the Barry First Christian Church.
