Obituary for Mrs. Laura Ruth Gleckler
Mrs. Laura Ruth Gleckler, 101, of Barry, passed away at 9:55 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013, in the Barry Community Care Center in Barry. She was born July 1, 1911, in Tecumseh, Oklahoma, a daughter of Charles B. and Mattie (Theis) Hartoon. They preceded her in death. She married H. Ray Gleckler on November 24, 1931, in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. He died on September 30, 1977. She is survived by 1 son, Robert Ray Gleckler (Laverda) of Barry; 5 grandchildren: Tony Gleckler (Shannon) and Dena Engstrom (Brian) of Tucson, Arizona; Cindy Piper (Mark) and Bradley Gleckler (Sherry) of Barry and Bryce Gleckler (Donna) of Griggsville; 9 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray Gleckler, son Harold Gleckler and 2 brothers, Ralph Hartoon and Clifford Hartoon. Ruth was a member of the United Methodist Church of Barry and Order of the Eastern Star. She was the last surviving Charter Member of the Pike County Home Extension. She loved to travel, paint and spend time with her family. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013, at the Barry United Methodist Church in Barry. Burial will be in the Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry. Memorials are suggested to the Barry United Methodist Church.
