Obituary for Mrs. Pauline Stickhost
Mrs. Pauline Stickhost, 92, of Barry, passed away at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 28, 2015, at the Barry Community Care Center in Barry. She was born February 2, 1923, in Crocker, Missouri, to William Oliver & Ora Josephine (Carver) Deardeuff. They preceded her in death. She married Roy L. Stickhost on August 17, 1981, in Pittsfield, Illinois. She is survived by her husband, Roy L. Stickhost, of Barry, 2 daughters, Mary Brant of Brentwood, Tennessee and Jody Wassell of Pittsfield, 3 step children, Vickie Fish of Quincy, Mike Stickhost of Barry and Mark Stickhost of Glasford, Illinois, 3 grandchildren, Laura Bergman of Jacksonville, Teija Smithers of Pittsfield and T. J. Wassell of Pittsfield, 2 step grandchildren, Kenny Fish of Quincy and Brian Fish of Quincy, 6 great grandchildren and 7 step great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Pauline made hats for the children at St. Judes Hospital and received several awards from St. Judes for her work and generosity. She liked quilting and gardening. Pauline ran the Hickory Hills Ceramics Studio in Pittsfield for several years. She also taught china painting and oil painting and received several awards. She had been head of the ceramics at the Pleasant Hill Fair for many years. Pauline had a very high love of nature, birds and animals. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2015, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2015, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Interment will be private. Memorials are suggested to the Barry Community Care Center Activity Fund.
