Obituary for Mrs. Virginia Marie Brunenn
Mrs. Virginia M. Brunenn, 96, of Barry, passed away at 3:10 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013, in the Barry Community Care Center in Barry. She was born September 14, 1916, in Carthage, Illinois, to Forrest A. & Adah Donnell (Scannell) Gabel. They preceded her in death. She married Earl H. Brunenn on May 28, 1939, in Fort Madison, Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 2, 2009. She is survived by 1 son, Kent Brunenn & his wife Maxine, of Barry; 1 granddaughter, Lori McCuen of Roswell, Georgia and 1 great granddaughter, Katie McCuen of Roswell, Georgia. She is also survived by several nieces & nephews and a special cousin Beverly Ann Moultrie of Wilmet, Illinois. 1 sister Betty Long preceded her in death. In 1952 Virginia and her husband came from West Point to Barry where they were in the grocery business for over 40 years. Virginia enjoyed bowling, sewing and music, especially piano and opera. She was a member of the Pike County Home Extension and a member of the West Point, Illinois Christian Church. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2013, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry. Memorials are suggested to the Barry American Legion Memorial Day Flay Fund.
