Obituary for Mrs. Wilma Geradline Fisher
Mrs. Wilma Geraldine Fisher, 91, of New Canton, died at 3:27 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012, in the Barry Community Care Center in Barry. She was born October 5, 1920, at home on the family farm, the daughter of John & Pearl (Davis) Stottlemeyer. They preceded her in death. She married Leslie Junior Fisher on November 15, 1942, in Hannibal, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 23, 1992. She is survived by a daughter, Linda Kay (Richard) Syrcle of Barry, a son, Leslie Lynn (Rose) Fisher of Carthage; 2 grandsons, Jason (Jennifer) Syrcle of Starkville, Mississippi and Mathew Fisher (fiance Robin) of Red Bud, Illinois; 2 granddaughters, Stacy Syrcle and Laura Fisher (friend Ryan Bruni) both of Chicago, Illinois; and a great granddaughter, Olivia Sophia Syrcle of Starkville, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister. Wilma attended Brewster Elementary School, a one room school, located south of New Canton and attended and graduated from New Canton High School. For a few years she worked for Brown Shoe Factory in Pittsfield. She was a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed working in her yard and garden and mowed her own lawn until she was 90. She was a member of the New Canton Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Burial will be in Shearer Cemetery in New Canton. Memorials are suggested to the Shearer Cemetery.
