He was born July 1, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Layton & Maurine (Moore) Stickhost. They preceded him in death.
He married Geraldine Bainter on September 19, 1953, in Hannibal, Missouri.
He later married Pauline Deardeuff on August 17, 1981, in Pittsfield, Illinois. She died on September 28, 2015.
He is survived by 3 children, Vickie Fish (husband Dennis), of Quincy, IL, Mike Stickhost (wife Velma), of Barry, IL, and Mark Stickhost (wife Rhonda), of Glasford, IL; 1 step-daughter Jody Wassell (husband Terry), of Pittsfield, IL; 4 grandchildren, Kenny Fish of Quincy, IL, Brian Fish of Quincy, IL, Chris Stickhost, of Glasford, IL, & Mark Stickhost II of Princeville, IL; 3 step-grandchildren, Laura Bergman of Jacksonville, IL, Teija Smithers of Pittsfield, IL, & T. J. Wassell of Pittsfield, IL; 9 great grandchildren, 6 step-great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter and 1 step great great granddaughter.
In addition to his parents and his wife he was preceded in death by 1 grandchild Daniel Stickhost and 1 step-daughter Mary Brant.
Roy served in the Navy from 1946-1951. He loved dogs, fishing, collecting coins & arrowheads. Roy loved going to the restaurant every morning and drinking coffee with his friends.
A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 25, 2019, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
There is no visitation.
Burial will be private.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
