Obituary for Ruby I. Bower
Mrs. Ruby I. Bower, 95, of Barry, Illinois, passed away at 7:15 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2015, at the Barry Community Care Center in Barry. She was born August 8, 1919, in Hadley Township, Pike County, Illinois, to Robert & Anna (Sparrow) McCleery. They preceded her in death. She married Robert Bower, on May 29, 1939, in New London, Missouri. He preceded her in death in 1983. She is survived by 1 son, Frank Bower of Barry and his companion Pinky Snow. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, 4 brothers and 4 sisters, one of whom was her twin Ruth Moyer. Ruby worked for Motorola in Quincy for 19 years and later at K & E Market in Barry where she worked for 14 years. During her time at Motorola she was also a farm wife and enjoyed raising and selling chickens & eggs. She loved working in her flower garden and had lots of beautiful flowers each year as well as a very productive vegetable garden. Visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry. Memorials are suggested to the Barry Community Care Center Activity Fund.
