Obituary for Shirley A. Boyd
Mrs. Shirley A. Boyd, 91, of Barry, passed away at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2013, at the Barry Community Care Center in Barry. She was born August 8, 1921, in Barry, Illinois, to Fred L. & Jennie E. (Spink) Stroheker. They preceded her in death. She married Albert G. Boyd on May 17, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri. He preceded her in death on June 8, 1979. She is survived by 1 granddaughter, Ann M. Boyd Briggs, husband John, of St. Louis, Mo.; 1 foster daughter, Barbara Brider, of Collinsville, Ill.; 2 foster grandsons, David Brider of Collinsville, Ill. and Steven Brider of St. Jacob, Ill.; and 1 foster great grandson, David Austin Brider of Collinsville, Ill. She was preceded in death by 1 son, John A. Boyd on November 26, 1965, 1 brother, Stewart Stroheker, and 2 sisters, Mary Elizabeth (Billie) Johnson and Frances Smith. Shirley was very fond of animals, especially her dogs, and she enjoyed cooking and reading. Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 18, 2013, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 18, 2013, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery, Barry, Illinois. Memorials are suggested to the Barry Public Library.
