Obituary for Vincent Dean Howell
Mr. Vincent Dean Howell, 83, of Barry, Illinois, passed away at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at the Barry Community Care Center in Barry. He was born January 23, 1929, near New Canton, Illinois, one of 11 children, to Steve & Lura Esther (Boots) Howell. They preceded him in death. He married Ima Chaplin on February 23, 1949, in Pittsfield. She survives in Barry. He is also survived by 1 son, Johnny Howell of Barry; 3 daughters - Bertha Badgley, of Barry; Grace Rayner, husband Mitch, of North Pekin, Illinois; and Carol Ward, husband Bob, of St. Louis. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and 1 sister, Thelma (Tiny) Kurtz of Barry and lots of nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sons, Vincent Howell & Howard Howell; 6 brothers, Clifford, Rodney, Ernest, Sam, Howard & Harvey; and 3 sisters, Anna Bolin, Audrey Martindale & Flora Latzo. Dean & Ima shared 63 years together. He farmed for several years. Then he worked in Quincy at Master Tank & Electric Wheel. He also worked at Hull Fertilizer til he retired. He loved playing with his grandchildren and making things for them. He also loved gardening & yard work. Visitation will be held from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Burial will be in Samuel Taylor Cemetery in Rockport, Illinois. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
