Obituary for W. Carlene Renoud
Mrs. W. Carlene Renoud, 89, of Barry, Illinois, passed away at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy. She had been in the Barry Community Care Center for the last 5 years. She was born November 24, 1925, in Newburg Township, Pike County, Illinois, to Ira & Thelma (Hayden) Dyer. They preceded her in death. She married Keith Renoud on June 5, 1943, in Moberly, Missouri. Carlene is survived by her husband of 72 years, Keith, 3 children, Carla (Gary) Furniss of Barry, Randall (Myrna) Renoud, of Ottawa, Kansas, and Ken (Dorothy) Renoud of Pleasant Hill, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Mardell Bryant of Pittsfield, a brother, Richard (Norma) Dyer of Pittsfield, a step sister, Virginia (Gene) Smith of Pleasant Hill, a step brother, Darwin, Jr. (Sharon) Looper of Kampsville, a half sister, Patty Wright of Indiana, a sister-in-law, Sue Dyer of Nebo and several nieces & nephews. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by a step mother, Ann Dyer, a brother, Jack Dyer and 2 sisters, LaDonna Davis & Josephine Benjamin. Her parents named her Wanda at birth but she preferred her middle name Carlene. She attended country schools and graduated from Nebo High School in 1943. She held many jobs during her life starting at 12 years old as a housemaid. In 1948 she & Keith bought their home in Barry. In 1952 she purchased the Barry Flower Shop which she operated for 29 years. After she retired from her flower shop she worked part time at Ruthies Blackberry Run. Carlene loved to travel and has visited 49 US states as well as Europe, Mexico, Canada, Australia, New Zeland, Egypt, Israel, Greece, Jamaica, Barbados, Saint Vincent, St. Lucia & Martinique. She was a member of WCTU, Womens Business Professionals Club and the Barry Church of Christ. She was very active in her church work and had Church in her home until another building was acquired. Carlene felt that her life had been a wonderful journey and that she had been blessed in many ways. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 25 2015, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Burial will be in Green Pond Cemetery, Pearl, Illinois. Memorials are suggested to the Barry Community Care Center Activity Fund.
