Mr. Kenwood G. Foster, 82, of Barry, IL, passed away Friday, November 4, 2022, at the Barry Community Care Center in Barry.
He was born October 6, 1940, in Quincy, IL, to Glen F. & Mary Jo (Welbourne) Foster. They preceded him in death.
He is survived by 1 son Dr. John D. Foster & wife Karen, of Taos, NM, 1 daughter Judge Dulce J. Foster & husband Joe Muretta, of Minnetonka, MN, 4 grandchildren, Jacob Stoltzfus, Justin & Lucas Foster of Taos, NM and Galen Muretta, of Minnetonka, MN, and numerous cousins.
Ken grew up on the family farm. He graduated from Barry High School in 1958. He attended Culver Stockton College majoring in math and later graduated from Florida State University where he received his masters degree. He was an instructor in clinical social work at the University of Alabama. Ken was a member of the Adams County Mental Health Association and past Director of Mark Twain Mental Health Center in Hannibal, MO. He also worked in clinical social work at Blessing Hospital, S.I.U. Medical School, Ken Foster Counseling and area high schools.
Ken was an avid baseball and softball fan. He enjoyed snow skiing and shooting. He loved dining out and visiting and socializing with his friends.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2022, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2022, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry.
Memorials are suggested to the Pike County Animal Shelter.
