Obituary for Charles F. Blackorby
Mr. Charles F. Blackorby, 83, of rural Barry, passed away at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2017, on his farm.
He was born March 3, 1934, near New Canton, Illinois, to Ernest & Letha (McCleery) Blackorby. They preceded him in death.
He married Annabel Reel on June 21, 1955, in Barry. She survives in rural Barry.
In addition to his wife Annabel he is survived by 3 sons, Brad Blackorby of the State of Washington, Marc Blackorby, wife Jeannie, of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Dan Blackorby, wife Holly, of Bloomington, Ill.
Also surviving are 3 grandsons, Mike Blackorby and Nathan Blackorby, both of Quincy, Ill. and Shawn Blackorby, fiancee Amy, of Huntingburg, Ind., 1 granddaughter Tanya Blackorby of Quincy, Ill., 3 great granddaughters, Haily Blackorby and Natalie Blackorby both of Quincy, Ill., and Bailee Blackorby of Hannibal, Mo., and his loyal Republican dog Rudy.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by a daughter Kathleen Ann Ross, a granddaughter Christina A. Blackorby, his mother-in-law and his father- in-law.
Charlie was an Air Force veteran serving as Staff Sergeant during the Korean War and stationed in England He was a 50 year 3rd degree Mason and a member of the Barry American Legion Post #222. He loved to farm and was always happy to help a young farmer out. Charlie was a man of few words and was happiest when surrounded by his family and friends. Charlie was blessed to take the Honor Flight to Washington in 2014.
Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 24, 2017, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 25, 2017, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery, Barry, Illinois.
