Mrs. Dorothy M. Gosnell, 80, of New Salem, Illinois, passed away at 3:40 a.m. Thursday morning, January 3, 2019, at the Barry Community Care Center in Barry.
She was born November 6, 1938, in Arenzville, Illinois, to Ivan & Edna (Davis) Workman. They preceded her in death.
She married Ralph E. Gosnell on September 25, 1955, in Pittsfield, Illinois. He preceded her in death on September 24, 1993.
She is survived by 2 sons, Bill Gosnell, of New Salem, Illinois, and Clay Alan Gosnell, wife Glenda, of Rockford, Illinois; 2 daughters, Cheryl Lynn Westfall, husband Jim, of Baylis, Illinois, and Sally Ann Ducey, husband Donald, of Griggsville, Illinois; 8 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 1 sister Wanda Brown of Winchester, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
Dorothy taught Sunday School at Baylis United Brethern Church for many years. She used to raise collie dogs and loved all animals. She was especially fond of spending time with her grandkids.
Visitation will be from 4:00 - 6:00 Sunday, January 6, 2019, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 7, 2019, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Burial will be in Gray Cemetery near New Salem, Illinois.
Memorials are suggested to the Pike County Animal Shelter.
