Mrs. Ima L. Howell, 85, of Barry, passed away at 9:55 a.m. Monday, February 12, 2018, at the Barry Community Care Center in Barry.
She was born May 25, 1932, near Detroit, Illinois, to Ace John & Bertha Lorena (Walk) Chaplin. They preceded her in death.
She married Vincent Dean Howell on February 23, 1949, in Pittsfield, Illinois. He preceded her in death on May 30, 2012.
She is survived by 1 son Johnny Howell of Barry, 3 daughters, Carol Ward, husband Bob, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, Grace Rayner, husband Mitch, of North Pekin, Illinois, and Bertha Badgley of Barry, Illinois, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, 2 sisters, Wanda Smith of Joplin, Missouri and Anna McDonald of Pittsfield, Illinois, 1 brother Donald Chaplin of Quincy, Illinois, 2 sisters-in-law, Glorine Phebus of Barry, Illinois and Pat Chaplin of Auburn, Illinois, and numerous nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by 2 sons, Vincent and Howard K., 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Ima and her husband owned and operated the Cree Mee in Barry for many years. She loved to travel and really enjoyed her grandchildren and her coffee shop friends.
Visitation will be from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2018, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2018, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Burial will be in Samuel Taylor Cemetery, Rockport, Illinois.
