Obituary for Joseph "Joe" L. Robinson
Mr. Joseph "Joe" L. Robinson, 91, of rural Barry, Illinois, passed away at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2017, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.
He was born October 7, 1925, in Detroit, Illinois, to William Paul & Anna Esther (Darmody) Robinson. They preceded him in death.
He married Patricia R. Kline on July 3, 1948, in Pittsfield, Illinois. She survives in Quincy.
In addition to his wife he is survived by 3 sons - Mike Robinson, wife Lisa, of St. Louis, Mo.; Mark Robinson, wife Angie, of Rockford, Ill.; & Matt Robinson, wife Caitlen, of Chicago, Ill.; 2 daughters - Kelly Ruppel, husband Tim, of Lincoln, Ill. and Patty Johnson, husband Raymond, of Louisville, Ky.
Also surviving are 4 grandsons - Joe Robinson of Washington, D.C.; Dylan Robinson of High Point, N.C.; Jacob Dietrich of Springfield, Ill.; & David Ruppel of Louisville, Ky.; 5 granddaughters - Rebecca Borowski of Bloomington, Ind.; Anna Ruppel of Louisville, Ky.; Audrey Ruppel of Louisville, Ky.; Jessi Dietrich of Champaign, Ill.; & Frances Robinson of Chicago, Ill; and 1 great granddaughter Isabel Borowski of Bloomington, Ind.
He was preceded in death by 5 brothers - William, Paul, Harvey, Richard & Jack Robinson; and 5 sisters - Julie Herrin, Kate Crawford, Sally McManus, Mary Stinebaker and Rosie Stice.
Joe was a technician 1st class serving in the infantry during W.W. II in Germany. He worked for Brown Shoe Company in Pittsfield and worked for 20 years at Electric Wheel in Quincy. After retiring he was a driver and funeral attendant for Kirgan Funeral Home for 18 years. He was a lifelong member of the Barry American Legion Post #222.
Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 29, 2017, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 30, 2017, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pittsfield.
Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry.
Memorials are suggested to the Illinois Veterans Home or the Barry American Legion Post #222.
