Obituary for L. Imogene Main
L. Imogene Main, 95, of Liberty, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Barry Healthcare & Senior Living in Barry, IL.
She was born on April 9, 1928, in Beverly Township, a daughter of Harry and Bertha Bullard Mixer.
She married Gerald W. Main on February 25, 1949, in Pittsfield. Gerald preceded her in death on September 7, 1980.
She is survived by a daughter, Lynda (Main) Davis of Carpentersville, IL, and three sons, John W. Main (Irene Schmalshof) of Baylis, Dennis Main of Liberty and Wayman (Sharon Paben) Main of Camp Point. Also, six grandchildren, Lori Main (Scott) Alberts of Quincy, Debra Main (Bill) Healy of Rock Island, Jessica Davis (Mark) Bernabei of Ottawa, Bryan (Lee Ann Sims) Main of Osage Beach, MO, Brittany Main (Adam) Thiese of Davenport, IA, and Zac Main of Mesa, AZ. She was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren, Shane Alberts, Harper and Hadley Healy, Lilliana and Mario Bernabei, Jonah and Cora Main and Wyatt Thiese.
Imogene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three brothers, Verlin, Elvin and infant brother Harry, and an infant sister Bertha Lou.
Imogene was an excellent seamstress, and her work was done to perfection. She loved making cushions, and many (including family) were lucky to have received them as treasured gifts throughout the years. She worked not only as a farm wife, but also at the Ben Franklin in Pittsfield, Motorola and for the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Services as a crop statistician. This was her favorite job. She always enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, shopping/collecting antiques, interior decorating, bird watching and being outdoors.
She attended First Christian Church in Pittsfield and the First Presbyterian in Quincy.
Funeral services will be held at Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry, at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2024, conducted by Lois Sorrill.
Interment will be in Mound Prairie Cemetery in Beverly, IL.
