OBITUARY
Mrs. Loreta M. Harris, 96, of Barry, Illinois, passed away at 3:45 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2017, at the Barry Community Care Center in Barry.
She was born March 8, 1921, in New Canton, Illinois, to Benjamin Harrison & Mabel Louise (Shields) Jibben. They preceded her in death.
She married John Harris, Jr. in 1959 in Pittsfield. He preceded her in death in 1983.
She is survived by 2 great nieces, Nicole (David Brandon) Goodall of Waverly, Ill. and Tara Metternich of Okeechobee, Fla. and 1 great great niece Olive Xianxiu of Waverly, Ill.
She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Bernice Bossarte and LaVada McKinney and a half brother Walter Krei.
Loreta worked on the farm with her father and milked cows. She worked many years at Brown Shoe Factory in Pittsfield. She was an avid square dancer, canned food and made food for hundreds of people. Loreta had a large body of friends who remained loyal to her.
Visitation will be from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Pittsfield.
Memorials are suggested to the Hull United Methodist Church.
