Obituary for Mrs. Mabel L. Thomas
Mrs. Mabel L. Thomas, 93, of Kinderhook, Illinois, passed away at 1:09 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2014, in the Barry Community Care Center in Barry. She was born January 6, 1921, in Richfield Township, Illinois, to Raymond & Georgia (Hull) Lightle. They preceded her in death She married James R. Thomas on December 16, 1946, in Palmyra, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 3, 1990. She is survived by 1 son, Raymond A. Thomas, wife Alice, of Quincy; 3 daughters - Geraldine Snyder, husband Jeff of Plainville; Patricia A. Doran, husband Eddie, of Barry and Frances D. Cohenour, husband Bob, of Baylis. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, John Lightle and Bud Lightle; a sister, Peggy Thomas ,a great grandson, James Scott Thomas, and a sister-in-law, Della Huntley. Mabel was an assistant cook at West Pike High School for many years and was a major fan of West Pike band & basketball. Her family was her pride and she never met a stranger. She was always friendly and outgoing. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Burial will be in Kinderhook Cemetery, Kinderhook, Illinois. Memorials are suggested to the Barry Community Care Center activity fund.
