Mr. Philip A. (Phil) Phillips, 82, of New Canton, Illinois, passed away at 8:07 a.m. Monday, November 14, 2016, in the emergency room of Illini Hospital in Pittsfield..
He was born November 18, 1933, in New Canton, Illinois, to James Tilford & Lois Alene (Smith) Phillips. They preceded him in death.
He married Linda L. Earls, on November 23, 1952, in Independence, Missouri. She survives in New Canton.
In addition to his wife he is survived by 1 son Todd S. Phillips, wife JoAnn, of Peoria, Illinois; 1 daughter Tammy L. Rees, husband Roger, of Quincy, Illinois; 2 grandsons, Ted Rees of Quincy, Illinois and Kyle Phillips of Hannibal, Missouri; 2 granddaughters, Lacy Bennett, husband Corey, of Dexter, Missouri and Kayla Phillips of New Canton, Illinois; and 3 great grandchildren.
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by 1 brother Ben Phillips and 2 sisters, Nellie Allen and Peggy Foster.
He was a longtime New Canton resident. He served in the Army from 1956 to 1958. He later worked at Moormans in Quincy. He then worked for Building Products and later began his own cabinet business in Hannibal which he worked at until retiring. After retiring he continued his work with wood projects he loved. He was an avid Nascar fan and Quincy Blue Devils fan. When not working he loved to duck hunt and spend time outdoors and at his river cabin.
Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 17, 2017, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry.
Burial will be in Morey Cemetery in New Canton.
Memorials are suggested to the New Canton Fire Department.
