Obituary for Shirley Mae Tittsworth
Mrs. Shirley Mae Tittsworth, 93, of Barry, Illinois, passed away at 7:50 a.m. Friday, October 31, 2014, in the Barry Community Care Center in Barry. She was born November 13, 1920, in Barry, to John E. & Josephine (Wheeler) Wittekiend. She first married James Ernest VanHook on October 26, 1941, in Chicago. He preceded her in death on August 10, 1954. She then married Ladell (Bud) Tittsworth on October 21, 1955, in Barry. He preceded her in death on July 5, 2002. She is survived by 1 daughter - Mrs. Randy (Melissa) Coultas of Barry; and 3 sons - Jimmy VanHook of Barry; Ernie VanHook & friend Becky Johns of Barry; and Cory VanHook and wife Connie of Barry. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, 3 brothers and 1 grandson James Allen VanHook. Shirley was a member of the Barry United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a well known and liked business woman in Barry who started the Barry Thirft Shop. She was a dedicated Mother and Grandmother. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry. Memorials are suggested to the Barry United Methodist Church.
