Obituary for william R. ( Bill ) Hoyt
Mr. William R. Hoyt, 94, of Barry, Illinois, passed away at 7:21 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy. He was born August 11,1917, in Barry, Illinois, to Roscoe D. & Iva M. (Johnson) Hoyt. They preceded him in death. He married Eileen Wheelan on August 30, 1942, in Hannibal, Missouri. She survives in Barry. He is also survived by 2 sons - Michael Hoyt & his wife Janet of New London, Missouri and Thomas Hoyt & his wife Theresa of Barry and 1 daughter - Connie Rupp & her husband Grant of Andalusia, Illinois. Also surviving are 2 grandsons - Jeff Rupp of Andalusia, Ill. and Jordan Hoyt of Quincy; 3 granddaughters - Jana Kinder of Premption, Ill.; Kelly Rupp of Dallas, Texas and Trisha Briscoe of Barry; and 1 brother, Marvin N. Hoyt & wife Sue of Barry. He was preceded by 1 brother, Kenneth. Bill was a Sgt. in the Army Air Corp during W.W. II. He served in the European-African and middle eastern theaters of war. He retired from Alexander Lumber Company where he had been employed from 1952-1980 and managed the Barry Lumber Yard. Bill was as member of the Barry Fire Deprtment, Barry American Legion Post 222, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Loyal Order of Odd Fellows, Masons and the Shriners. He was a member of the Barry United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Funeral services wil be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2012, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry. Memorials are suggested to the Barry Fire Department or the Barry American Legion Post 222.
